In 1983 Professional Loss Control started operations in Canada as an engineering consulting firm specializing in fire safety and fire protection.  This Canadian owned company was a partnership between Luke Morrison and Professional Loss Control in the United States.  The Canadian and American companies worked in association until 1995 when the Canadian company became 100% Canadian owned.  Although separate companies PLC in Canada continues to work with personnel from HSB Professional Loss Control to share technology and help meet project demands.

Since inception in 1983 Professional Loss Control has worked with industrial, institutional and commercial clients to help resolve technical problems related to fires, explosions and codes.  Each year the company has endeavoured to apply appropriate technical solutions, or explanations, to meet our client’s needs.  Each year PLC has strengthened its reputation as a specialized engineering firm in the fire safety field.  In the 1990's PLC started the process of defining its work processess and developing formal quality review.  This process of quality improvement continued until 2005 when the company received ISO 9001:2000 certification for its quality program.

Professional Loss Control is, by some measures, a small consulting firm.  We believe we are successful as a small firm by focusing our service to technical evaluations relating to fires, explosions and related codes.  We are specialized.  We are able to meet the needs of small projects as well as large ones in an efficient and cost effective manner.  Our clients range from small architectural firms to large multi-national corporations.
