Residential

Each year, residential fires account for the majority of fire related deaths and injuries in Canada and North America, as well as a tremendous cost to individuals and society.  From single family dwellings to university dormitories to multi-storey apartment buildings, fires can occur in any type of residential building and their affects can be devastating.  Proper construction and provision of fire safety measures can help to reduce the impact of fires.

PLC has provided traditional engineering services such as code compliance reviews and fire protection system design, for new residential occupancies.  We have also conducted reviews of existing buildings that do not meet today's building codes and identified cost effective solutions to permit the continued use of the buildings.  Often, performance based solutions are required in order to provide an acceptable level of safety for older existing buildings.
