Software

FIRE MODELS

As increasingly sophisticated software becomes available for evaluating fire problems, PLC has worked hard to keep abreast of the latest developments.  However, our focus in use of technical software has been to employ the right technology and software to meet our client needs.

At PLC we have been using computer based fire models to serve client needs since the 1980's.  Models used include single and multiple compartment zone models as well as Computational Fluid Dynamics models, and Smoke movement & Smoke Control models.

EXPLOSION MODELS

PLC has also been using computer models to evaluate explosion protection requirements and has developed an explosion model to evaluate specific explosion effects.

CUSTOM MODEL DEVELOPMENT

If a fire model that offers the unique needs of a client is not commercially available, PLC does not hesitate to create something completely new. PLC is fully capable of creating custom fire models that are specifically tailored to the needs of our clients.

HAZARD ASSESSMENT SOFTWARE

PLC's use of software is not limited to consequence modeling.  Technical staff also use publically available software for formal hazard assessments such as PHA and HAZOP.  The company has also developed database software to conduct performance based fire hazard assessments for industrial clients and the nuclear industries.  This software helps our technical staff to efficiently record details important to performance based assessments and to accurately assess specific hazards.
